Movie screening of Road to Baleya, filmed and produced by Canadian Bay Weyman.  The film features Mansa Sissoko of Mali, West Africa and Canadian Musicians Dave Clark, Lewis Melville, and Tannis Slimmon.  Meet Mansa on Thursday, May 28th when he and our other world musicians perform at the Museum.  Five World musicians will participate in our week of music in schools.  

These events are made possible through a grant awarded to by the Department of Immigration to the Coalition of New Canadians for Arts and Culture in partnership with Stellula Music.

The Story of Mansa Sissoko of Mali, West Africa.

"It is an emotional personal journey for Sissoko, who is returning to his home village for the first time since leaving as a small boy. The griot’s return triggers three days of musical ritual, dancing, ceremony and celebration, steeped in local Islamic and animist traditions."    

 

  The Cafe Ole

On Wednesday, May 27th at 7:30pm

The Cafe Ole, a  hot new Canadian flamenco-jazz band’s.

The group was started by the talented bass player, and composer Dustin Shaskin.

Dustin met the passionate and dedicated musicians who would soon become The Café Olé. The current band members include vocalist Celia Palli, pianist Scott Metcalfe, flamenco guitarist Benjamin Barrile, saxophonist Mike Murley, bassist Dustin Shaskin, percussionist Diego las Heras, and drummer Max Senitt. 

Show begins at 7:30pm.
