The stars aligned last Thursday evening during the Stellula Music Gala at the Midland Cultural Centre. Friends, family and supporters witnessed a series of near flawless performances by student performers who opened for the one-of-a-kind Montreal indie artist David Martel and his band. Audiences from around the globe were also able to tune in as the show was broadcast live over the internet with the assistance of Now Broadcasting also based in Montreal. The astounding performances captivated the full house and ended the year of Stellula programming on a high note. The Montreal group also visited two area high schools to mentor students in songwriting.
Stellula Music would like to extend our congratulations and gratitude to the student songwriters Alyssa Polan, Teghan Robinson, Jessica Turner, Samantha Hamilton, Cristy Kooy, Paisley Abrams, Adam Polan. Mentors: Louis Lefaive, Ollie Strong, Tammy Polan, and Anita Horodynsky. A heartfelt thank you to guest artist David Martel and bandmates Pietro Amato (french horn, Belle Orchest, Luyas and Arcade Fire ),David Jalbert on bass, Marianne Houle playing cello (Monogrenade), Stef Schneider on drums (Swedish band Thus Owls).
